Companies Moving to and Expanding in Downtown

Downtown Seattle is now home to more than 290,000 jobs – more than any other city in the Puget Sound region. To attract top talent, employers are locating and expanding downtown. New positions are opening at a rapid rate, and downtown accounts for the vast majority of new jobs in Seattle.

Net office space occupancy increased by seventeen million square feet since 2010 – the equivalent of adding eleven new Columbia Towers. Downtown Seattle accounted for nearly all (87 percent) of office construction in the city and more than half (57 percent) of the newly occupied office space in the Puget Sound region between 2010 and 2018.
