Clean Team

At 6 a.m. each day, before the rest of downtown is moving, our 65 Clean Team members hit the streets to clean sidewalks and alleyways in six neighborhoods within the Metropolitan Improvement District.  Last year, these ambassadors removed more than 45,000 graffiti tags and more than 970,000 gallons of trash across 285 square blocks of downtown. In 2016, with support and funding from MID ratepayers, we extended our hours of service and added specialized equipment, including an all-terrain litter vacuum to wash and vacuum sidewalks.

Ambassador Shout Out

Shout-out to Dillon, Richard and O'Neal! Dillon provided outreach services to a person in need while Richard and O'Neal followed up by cleaning up the storefront. Great teamwork!

Clean Team Ambassador of the Month: Kevin

Kevin is a vital and distinguished member of the Clean Team. Kevin trains new hires on the ins and outs of making downtown sparkle, and in addition to teaching, Kevin often provides new employees essential information and additional resources to help them succeed as team members and continue their personal development.

We all face crossroads in life, and ambassadors can look to Kevin for mentoring and guidance during tough times. His ability to build human connections stabilizes and strengthens the people around him.

Ambassadors are encouraged to network in their sector, and Kevin regularly befriends those who frequent his area. Real Change, Bread of Life and the Alliance for Pioneer Square all praise Kevin’s work.

Keeping downtown clean and safe is a never-ending task. Luckily, Kevin often takes the initiative to help co-workers with extremely difficult cleaning assignments. Recently, Kevin assisted supervisors on a major project under the ferry overpass (the story was posted on Jostle).

Please join us in congratulating Kevin as our Clean Team employee of the month for February 2020.
