Clean Team

At 6 a.m. each day, before the rest of downtown is moving, our 65 Clean Team members hit the streets to clean sidewalks and alleyways in six neighborhoods within the Metropolitan Improvement District.  Last year, these ambassadors removed more than 45,000 graffiti tags and more than 970,000 gallons of trash across 285 square blocks of downtown. In 2016, with support and funding from MID ratepayers, we extended our hours of service and added specialized equipment, including an all-terrain litter vacuum to wash and vacuum sidewalks.

Hard Work and Honesty Earn Accolades for Clean Team Ambassador of the Year Eddie Lewis

Eddie Lewis quickly established himself as an outstanding ambassador with a strong work ethic, perfect attendance and ability to complete any task. Since his promotion to Green Machine operator, Eddie has received numerous accolades from ratepayers in the Pioneer Square area as well as from his supervisors.

Recently, Eddie was operating his Green Machine on Third Avenue when he observed a woman drop something.

The item was an envelope with $400 in cash.

He chased after her to return it. It turned out the woman had just cashed a check and the money was for her rent. She was incredibly relieved and grateful for Eddie’s honesty.

And we’re all very grateful for his hard work and dedication to downtown. Congratulations, Eddie, on being our Clean Team Ambassador of the year
