Clean Team

At 6 a.m. each day, before the rest of downtown is moving, our 65 Clean Team members hit the streets to clean sidewalks and alleyways in six neighborhoods within the Metropolitan Improvement District.  Last year, these ambassadors removed more than 45,000 graffiti tags and more than 970,000 gallons of trash across 285 square blocks of downtown. In 2016, with support and funding from MID ratepayers, we extended our hours of service and added specialized equipment, including an all-terrain litter vacuum to wash and vacuum sidewalks.

Clean Team Ambassador of the Month

Terrence Younger

Terrence Younger epitomizes the best qualities of a Clean Team ambassador. Younger is exceptional at building relationships with ratepayers and consistently goes above and beyond his regular duties. Once, after finding a customer’s wallet outside the coffee shop on Second Avenue and Vine Street, he coordinated with the business and reunited the wallet with its extremely grateful owner.

Younger volunteered to be the point person for cleaning and organizing our equipment storage area during renovation and is generously helpful to peers who are learning the new Fulcrum data system. Younger is a Seattle native, and in his spare time he enjoys skateboarding, making music and designing jewelry.

Please join us in congratulating Terrence Younger as our Clean Team employee of the month.
