Genres: psychedelic rock, dream pop, indie Occidental Square / 117 S. Washington St. La Luz, the California psych-rock band led by guitarist and songwriter Shana Cleveland, is known for pairing swaggering riffs with dreamy harmonies and a singular mix of doo-wop, folk and surf-inspired psychedelia. Their acclaimed album News of the Universe marks a bold new chapter, transforming Cleveland’s experience with illness, motherhood and change into a record that is both haunting and triumphant.
