A Very Merry Downtown Holiday Season Returns
Posted on

For decades, DSA/MID’s holiday celebrations have brought joy to the heart of the city, and this season, A Very Merry Downtown is back with some of downtown’s most beloved traditions and new highlights.
The festivities begin Friday, Nov. 27, the day after Thanksgiving, with the annual Tree Lighting Celebration at Westlake Park, presented by Amazon. Family-friendly craft making, costumed characters and sweet treats start at 11 a.m. At 5 p.m., the massive holiday tree and star will be lit, followed by a fireworks show. The event is free and open to everyone.
That same day, the Pines on Pike Christmas Tree Lot returns to First & Pike, open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Dec. 18. Then, from Dec. 12-20, the ice skating rink returns to Occidental Square, presented by Alaska Airlines, open noon to 6 p.m. daily, with a festive market on opening day.
A Very Merry Downtown is made possible in part by MID ratepayers.
āThe holidays are when downtown really feels like a shared space, and we want everyone to feel welcome,ā DSA Director of Public Realm Operations Owen Harrang said. āThese traditions bring neighbors, workers and visitors together, and weāre thrilled to announce some incredible surprises for the weeks ahead.”
Bell Street Park and Pioneer Park will also host holiday programming, with details to come. Stay updated on what’s happening online and follow DSA on social media for updates as more is announced.
