MID Deployment Center Opens at Third & Pine
Posted on

DSA/MID has opened the doors on a new home right in the heart of downtown.
The MID Deployment Center at Third Avenue and Pine Street officially launched on June 2, turning the former Mountain Hardware retail space at 250 Pine Street into a dedicated operations and storage hub for the ambassador teams who keep downtown running 362 days a year.
The facility spans 8,750 square feet — 6,241 square feet of storage and a 2,509-square-foot branded storefront — and gives DSA/MID’s Clean Team, Community Safety & Hospitality Team and Public Realm Operations Team a presence at one of downtown’s most visible intersections. The space holds 60 electric-assisted trikes for the Clean Team (complete with 11 new overhead power outlets, 13 wall outlets and a custom ramp built for trike access through the alley) and 54 bikes for the CSH Team. Both the bike and trike mechanics now have dedicated shops in the space, equipped to perform the same services as a professional bike shop.
The storefront facing Third & Pine will also serve as a pop-in workspace available to the Seattle Police Department and create future pop-up retail opportunities. DSA worked with local artists to bring color and energy to the corner. Special thanks go to partners Future Arts, House of Sorcery, NINE dot ARTS, Kidder Mathews, Newmark and Sellen Construction’s Special Projects team.
“Opening this MID Deployment Center at Third and Pine is about more than storage; it’s about showing up,” DSA President & CEO Jon Scholes said. “This is a corner that matters enormously to the health of our downtown, and we are committing ourselves to it.”
The opening follows DSA/MID’s broader consolidation last fall, when admin and ambassador teams moved together into 1601 2nd Avenue just steps away. With the Deployment Center now open, all teams are operating from a connected, centralized footprint in the core of the MID.
“Our 160-plus ambassadors are deployed right here in the heart of downtown seven days a week, 15 hours a day, providing services to the ratepayers and stakeholders who depend on us,” DSA VP of Public Realm & Ambassador Operations Jennifer Casillas said. “This space allows us to bring positive energy to this intersection every single day. When people see this level of intention, it’s a visible reminder that this community cares deeply about downtown.”
