DSA Launches Summer of Sports, Pitchside at the Square
Posted on

SEATTLE, June 10, 2026 — The Downtown Seattle Association is thrilled to announce Summer of Sports, presented by Nordstrom, an exciting outdoor sports viewing experience that will transform Westlake Park into Seattle’s central gathering place for live sports this summer. The free, public programming runs from June 1-July 31, coinciding with a packed schedule of sports, including a rather large international soccer tournament coming to town.
The launch comes just days after Westlake Park reopened following renovations, welcoming Seattle’s residents, workers and an influx of visitors to the city center.
“This isn’t just about putting games on a screen,” DSA Director of Public Realm Operations Owen Harrang said. “It’s about creating an experience that is free, open to the public and uniquely downtown Seattle. We want Westlake Park to be the place people think of when they want to be part of the action.”
Westlake Park watch parties
A large main screen will broadcast World Cup matches, with a dedicated 65-inch secondary screen streaming Mariners, Storm, Reign, NBA Finals, Stanley Cup Playoff games and more, daily throughout the summer. Fans will enjoy:
- A summertime food and drink kiosk courtesy of Capitol Hill favorite Bonito Café y Mercadito
- A Nordstrom VIP viewing area for the quarters, semis and final matches
- A consistent lineup of matchups — on and off World Cup game days
- A free, welcoming atmosphere open to all
World Cup quarterfinal, semifinal and final watch parties will continue at Westlake Park into mid-July, culminating with the main event on July 19.
Pitchside at the Square — Occidental Square
On each of the six Seattle World Cup match days, Occidental Square will come alive as Pitchside at the Square — an all-day fan experience open to everyone. Visitors can expect live music, activities, a beer garden and a custom soccer pitch that invites participation from fans of all skill levels.
Seattle World Cup match days + same-day games not in Seattle:
- June 15: 3 games at noon, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

A summer of global proportions
Visit Seattle projects as many as 750,000 fans at World Cup matches in Seattle, generating up to $846 million for the local economy, supporting nearly 20,000 jobs and producing approximately $96 million in tax revenue.
Summer of Sports, presented by Nordstrom, positions the reinvigorated Westlake Park as a welcoming hub for a global audience
“You’ll be able to come down any day and find something happening,” Harrang said. “Downtown will be buzzing, and we’re so excited to host all of these events and activations, not only for visitors, but for our downtown workers and residents.”
