As part of ongoing efforts to revitalize downtown, DSA/MID recently partnered with Downtown Works, a national retail consulting firm with offices in Seattle, to support the growth and vitality of center city retail.

In the initial discovery phase, work is focused on meetings with both property owners and established retailers to understand current market conditions and develop a strategy to fill vacant spaces. Through this collaboration, the goal is to attract independent, established retailers and food and beverage operators considering expansion to downtown Seattle.

The partnership with Downtown Works will also include assistance with permitting needs and data-driven insights to attract new businesses. By engaging with current retailers, sharing positive sales numbers and gathering support for the effort, DSA/MID aims to foster a strong, vibrant retail environment downtown.

“That Downtown Works is partnering with DSA is great news for downtown Seattle,” said Midge McCauley, principal of Downtown Works, LLC. “While leasing a storefront can provide occupancy, it doesn’t create a destination. Together, we can pursue retailers committed to the long term, who will contribute to a diverse retail mix, and attract repeat visitors. Occupancy offers a short-term solution, but creating a true destination provides long-term sustainability.”

We look forward to sharing more updates on this initiative as we continue our efforts to drive retail growth in the heart of Seattle.
