KIRO Radio: DSA President & CEO Jon Scholes talks downtown revitalization on The John Curley Show

Fresh off the 20th annual State of Downtown event on Tuesday, Feb. 25, Downtown Seattle Association President & CEO Jon Scholes joined John Curley on KIRO Radio to talk about downtown’s continued revitalization.

The two discussed downtown’s growing residential population, the increase in visitors coming downtown and workers returning in greater numbers.

“The numbers we want to see go up are in a better place than they were three months ago, six months ago and the things we want to see go down are down further,” Scholes said. “The progress is real and we need more of it, no doubt.”

John and Jon also talk about recent survey results indicating an overwhelming majority of registered Seattle voters believe that a healthy, vibrant downtown is important for the overall health of the city. They wrap up the conversation with recent improvements in public safety in the downtown core and the power of perception.
