Major Revive I-5 Project Delayed Until 2026

The Washington State Department of Transportation announced Monday that the Revive I-5 project through Seattle, which was set to begin in March, has been delayed until 2026.

The three-year project, which included major preservation work on the Ship Canal Bridge, would have required sections of I-5 to be reduced to two lanes for up to nine months each year between Northgate and Yesler. WSDOT said travelers should still expect some delays this year, including overnight work, weekend closures and possible lane reductions.

In light of this week’s announcement, the informational webinars previously scheduled by DSA partner Commute Seattle have been canceled.

We will continue to work with WSDOT, SDOT and our transit partners to plan for this project’s start in 2026, and we urge the state to take this additional time to ensure this important work can be completed while the city’s, region’s and state’s economy can continue to flourish.
