Join Us for State of Downtown 2023

Register now for State of Downtown 2023 on Tuesday, March 14 at the brand-new Seattle Convention Center Summit building.

This event will bring together national and local perspectives on urban issues, the latest economic data on downtown Seattle, and an afternoon of networking and socializing.

DSA President & CEO Jon Scholes will deliver his annual state of downtown address and we’ll welcome Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell. In addition, economist and urbanist Ed Glaeser will join us as keynote speaker. Glaeser is a professor of economics and chairman of the department of economics at Harvard University. He has authored several books, including Survival of the City and Triumph of the City and is a frequent contributor to national publications.

Following his address, Glaeser will participate in a question-and-answer session moderated by DSA board members Liz Dunn, principal of Dunn & Hobbes, and Sung Yang, principal of Pacific Public Affairs and DSA board vice chair.

After the program, join us for a networking happy hour with appetizers, drinks, music, conversation and views from this beautiful addition to downtown’s core.

Doors will open at 3 p.m., with the keynote program from 4-5:30 p.m. and the post-event reception from 5:30-7 p.m.

Ed Glaeser

Keynote Speaker

Ed Glaeser is the Fred and Eleanor Glimp professor of economics and the chairman of the Department of Economics at Harvard University, where he teaches microeconomic theory and urban and public economics. He has published multiple books as well as dozens of papers on cities, economic growth, law and economics. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1992.
