Survey Says More Commuters Than Ever Choosing Efficient Transportation Options
Posted on
A new Commute Seattle survey more than 70 percent of downtown’s estimated 247,000 daily commuters opt for transit, ridesharing, biking, walking and teleworking
That continues a strong downward trend in solo driving from 35 percent in 2010 and 34 percent in 2012 and 31 percent in 2014. Public transit (bus, light rail, streetcar and train) remains the top choice for downtown commuters (47%), with ridesharing (carpool, vanpool) holding steady at (9%), walking (6%), bicycling (3%) and teleworking (3%). Due to this significant shift in commuter choices, downtown Seattle has been able to absorb substantial job growth with a minimal increase of cars on the road. You can read the entire study here.
