State of Downtown 2026
Recentering Our City Center
Thank you to the more than 1,200 DSA members, business and civic leaders who joined us for the 21st State of Downtown at the Seattle Convention Center on March 11.
The program, presented by Ballard Spahr Lane Powell, offered a look at downtown Seattle’s progress, the data shaping its revitalization and the opportunities and challenges ahead. During the signature event, DSA President & CEO Jon Scholes delivered his annual address, outlining priorities and sharing insights from the 2026 Economic Report, presented by Mortenson.
Attendees also heard remarks from Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson; King County Executive Girmay Zahilay; and keynote speaker Derek Thompson, an author, journalist and podcaster, who shared a national perspective on the future of downtowns and urban economic recovery.
Before and after the program, attendees connected with peers and partners from across the region, making State of Downtown 2026 another opportunity to take stock of progress and continue the work of recentering the city center.
If you’re not yet a DSA member, we invite you to join us.
Thank you for your support and see you at next year’s State of Downtown!
