Summer in the Parks

The sun is out, and downtown parks are busier than ever. Take advantage of summer sponsorship opportunities to connect with the crowds relaxing and playing in the center city’s best parks and public spaces. Open morning to early evening (with occasional early events), these versatile venues invite visitors, locals, parents, kids, workers and everyone else to experience DSA’s growing catalog of activities under the year’s bluest skies.

Westlake Park Play Space

Every parent knows when kids need to blow off steam. There aren’t many areas to run and shout in downtown’s retail district, though. Luckily, there’s the Westlake Park play space, developed by DSA in 2013 to serve the growing number of families and children living downtown. It’s the perfect place to climb, laugh and just be a kid. Popular year-round, rain or shine, this unique urban playground is fully fenced, has plenty of seating for adults, and is outfitted with a jungle gym and rubberized flooring.

Movies in the Park

Families won’t have to sacrifice a warm evening outside to enjoy a great movie this summer.  They can do both with DSA’s Movies in the Park, presented by Alaska Airlines. Every Friday this summer, our special silver screen lights up with a family-friendly flick. As the sun sets, movie-goers gather with blankets, picnic blankets and lawn chairs (DSA provides plenty of seating, too). When the crowd is settled, we start the reels turning on live action and animated hits.

Dancing til Dusk

Our Dancing til Dusk event waltzes back into Westlake Park and Occidental Square this summer. Each event kicks off with a beginner’s lesson followed by an open dance floor and live band to get everyone into the swing of things. Over the summer, Dancing til Dusk features different local bands, artists, instructors and styles of dance.

Art Installations

At DSA, we believe in the power of art to help create vibrant and welcoming parks and public spaces. That’s why we partner with artists to bring a range of installations into downtown all year round – from giant light installations begging for a selfie, to shipping containers that transform visitors to another place and time. Our installations are often interactive and invite exploration. It’s not uncommon to see kids (and adults) climbing and playing on our projects. An annual audience of hundreds of thousands are treated to these works by some of the country’s most talented artists.

Happy Hour in Westlake Park

Attendees of our unique happy hour series get to uncork their creative side while enjoying Northwest vintages. While they sip, guests are encouraged to discover their inner artist with free art activities. Vintners supply a selection of wines and glasses can be purchased (and enjoyed) in our designated wine garden. Full bottles are available for home consumption. Sponsors are invited to be exhibitors and host their own table.
