Downtown Summer Sounds Is Back — and It’s Heating Up

Downtown’s soundtrack is back.

Downtown Summer Sounds, now in its 47th year, launched July 9 at Westlake Park with a set from Infinity Song, the family quartet soft-rock group with more than 750,000 monthly Spotify listeners who are currently on a world tour. The kickoff followed a Summer of Sports (presented by Nordstrom) watch party at the same venue, turning Westlake Park into an all-day destination.

By the time this newsletter lands in your inbox, three main-stage shows and two pop-up concerts will already be in the books. Coming up next: Folk B*tch Trio closes out the Westlake Park run on July 30, before the main-stage series shifts to Occidental Square for the rest of the summer with Saba (Aug. 6), Chasing Abbey (Aug. 13), La Luz (Aug. 20), G Flip (Aug. 27) — who brings nearly 4 million monthly Spotify listeners — and The Grizzled Mighty (Aug. 28 at Pier 66) to close out the series.

Other pop-up shows continue, too, bringing stellar artists to parks and plazas across downtown including Freeway Park, Rainier Square, 1200 Fifth and Harbor Steps.

Concertgoers can pick up a stamp card at the info booth at any show; collect five stamps and you’ll get a free reusable tote bag and be entered to win a complimentary stay at The State Hotel. Other concert giveaways at the booth include DSS hats (trucker and bucket), sunglasses and more.

“It’s been an incredible start to the season,” DSA Director of Public Realm Operations Owen Harrang said. “The energy of the main-stage shows at Westlake Park has been electric, and we can’t wait to keep it going all the way through Occidental Square in August.”
