People with lights

Shorter days don’t have to dim your commute.

On Thursday, Dec. 4, from 4-6 p.m., DSA partner Commute Seattle invites you to Light Up Your Trip with a fun, free and safety-focused event at Bell Street Park (between Second and Fourth avenues).

Designed to help everyone move confidently and stay visible through the darker months, the event features free giveaways (including helmets), helmet decorating and practical safety tips for biking, walking, scooting and riding transit in low-light conditions. Enjoy complimentary beverages from Bloom Coffee (while supplies last) and connect with local transportation partners like the Seattle Department of Transportation, King County Metro, Sound Transit, Lime, Seattle Neighborhood Greenways and more.

“As the days get shorter, it’s more important than ever to help people feel confident and visible on their trips,” said Tara Peters, communications director for Commute Seattle. “Light Up Your Trip is our way of bringing the community together to share safety resources, celebrate sustainable travel and make sure everyone gets where they’re going comfortably and with a little extra winter brightness.”

Whether you’re a seasoned commuter or just getting started, Light Up Your Trip is a festive and practical way to brighten your travels this winter.
