Waterfront Transformation Continues with Elliott Bay Connections
Posted on

After more than 15 years of planning and development, Seattle’s 20-acre Waterfront Park will officially be completed in 2025. The transformative redevelopment of downtown Seattle’s waterfront reached key milestones in 2024, including the openings of the Overlook Walk, connecting Pike Place Market to the waterfront and the Seattle Aquarium’s Ocean Pavilion.
The Elliott Bay Connections project represents the next milestone in the waterfront’s transformation. This effort will connect, restore and revitalize Centennial and Myrtle Edwards parks and create a continuous pedestrian- and cyclist-friendly route from Pier 62 to Smith Cove, with lush landscaping, restrooms, a new concession, improved lighting and clear directional signage. Construction on the new greenway trail began earlier this month, with park renovations set to begin in March.
The EBC project, expected to be completed ahead of the 2026 FIFA men’s World Cup, is funded entirely by private philanthropic donations with strong support from the Port of Seattle and the city of Seattle. DSA is proud to serve as the project implementation partner for this public-private initiative.
