Ring in the Season With DSA

Posted on

For more than 30 years, DSA has been spreading holiday cheer in downtown Seattle. This season, we’re bringing back some of your favorite traditions and adding new experiences to help you create lasting memories for the whole family.

The fun kicks off Friday, Nov. 29, with the annual Tree Lighting Celebration at Westlake Park. Pre-show festivities begin at noon with face painting, costumed characters, live music by the Jewel Tones and other family-friendly surprises. Then, at 5 p.m., the main event gets underway with the lighting of the holiday tree and star, followed by a dazzling fireworks show.

Back for its third year, the Wintry Weekend Ice Skating Rink returns to Occidental Square from noon-6 p.m. Dec. 13-15. Skaters of all ages and skill levels are welcome, and skates are available to borrow for free. And if you’re looking to cross some gifts off your list, stop by the Occidental Square Holiday Bazaar on Friday and Saturday to shop from over 40 local makers.

Keep the holiday happiness coming with Santa Saturdays every weekend through Dec. 21 at Westlake Park from noon-4 p.m. Come snap a selfie with Santa, grab a sweet treat and create a holiday-themed work of art. All activities are free, including Santa photos.

On Saturday, Dec. 7 and Dec. 14, Westlake Park will also host Jingle Bell Jams, free concerts featuring Dancer & Prancer and Emerald City Voices, respectively. Bell Street Park will join in on the musical merriment with a Jingle Bell Jam featuring Polyrhythmics on Dec. 14. Santa Saturdays and Jingle Bell Jam Concerts are presented by Amazon.

At Pioneer Park, enjoy live performances from Seattle Jazz Fellowship and the Dickens Carolers, each sharing their own takes on holiday classics, from 1:15-4 p.m. on Wednesdays, Dec. 4-18.

In addition to these festive and free events, be sure to take in the dazzling lights throughout downtown. Spread some holiday cheer as you soak in the sights!
