The holiday season is almost upon us, which means downtown Seattle is preparing to sparkle with popular traditions and new attractions.

The festivities get underway at noon on Friday, Nov. 29, at downtown’s winter wonderland, aka Westlake Park. Enjoy music, lights and face painting ahead of the 5 p.m. Tree Lighting Celebration. With family-friendly surprises throughout the park and snow in the forecast, it’s an event you won’t want to miss.

The seasonal fun rolls into December with the return of our popular free ice skating rink at Occidental Square. The pop-up rink is back Dec. 13–15 for a third year, and skaters of all ages and skill levels are invited. The festivities on Sunday will include a special surprise for Seattle Kraken fans. The rink is open from noon–6 p.m. each day, with skates provided to those who need them. And if you’re looking for unique holiday gifts, check out the Occidental Square Trading Post that will be popping up that same weekend in the park on Friday and Saturday.

Starting Nov. 30 through Dec. 21, we’re also bringing in the big guy for Santa Saturdays at Westlake Park from 1-3 p.m., with free live concerts in the park on Saturdays, Dec. 7 and 14. Get a free Santa photo and enjoy other surprises. Bell Street Park will also host a free concert on Dec. 14.

“We’re looking forward to the holiday season and all of the incredible activities coming to downtown,” DSA Vice President of Public Realm and Ambassador Operations Jennifer Casillas said. “We have a variety of events planned throughout the center city that everyone, of all ages, can enjoy. And thanks to funding from downtown property owners and sponsors, we’re able to offer these activities to the community for free.”
