On Oct. 10, a final design was unveiled for the Elliott Bay Connections project, a public–private partnership to connect, restore and revitalize public parks along the waterfront from Pier 62 — just north of the Seattle Aquarium — to The Beach at Expedia Group.

Key improvements include wider pathways, enhanced lighting and vibrant landscaping, aimed at promoting safety among pedestrians and bicyclists and creating a more accessible waterfront experience for all. The development — slated to be complete by the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup — not only connects the neighborhoods, it encourages outdoor activities and community engagement.

DSA is the project implementation partner for EBC, which is being funded entirely by philanthropists. “We are not just opening park spaces, we’re opening a whole new set of experiences and places in our city,” said Jon Scholes, DSA president & CEO. “These improvements – from Smith Cove down to Pioneer Square – are a tremendous investment in the future of our city.”
