In 2016, the Downtown Seattle Association entered into an agreement with the city of Seattle to manage and program Westlake Park and Occidental Square. DSA provides staffing and amenities for these critical public spaces, and activates them with yearlong family-friendly activities, including music, games, art and more. This partnership has set a precedent for urban public space management in Seattle.

On Dec. 31, 2023 DSA’s agreement with the city will expire. In the coming weeks, the Seattle City Council will decide whether to approve this ongoing public-private partnership. Please take a moment to send an email to the city council, urging them to support the renewal of this critical parks agreement. Your input can make a real difference in shaping the future of downtown’s public spaces.
