Occidental Square will turn into an all-out dance party for our most unforgettable Downtown Summer Sounds show yet! Internationally-acclaimed dance crew Massive Monkees will take the stage, joined by musicians Gabriel Teodros and Prometheus Brown, for an action-packed show you won’t want to miss.

Massive Monkees is a world-renowned hip-hop crew consisting of DJs, emcees and dancers. Originally formed in the 1999, the group has evolved to more than 20 performers, showcasing a unique mixture of energy, creativity and charisma within the crew. This brilliant chemistry propelled them into a streak of winning local, national and international competitions, theatrical production, performances and establishing their mark in their community by teaching new generations of dancers.

Gabriel Teodros is a musician and writer from South Seattle who first made a mark with the group Abyssinian Creole, and reached an international audience with his critically-acclaimed solo debut Lovework. He has been setting stages on fire ever since, all across the US, Canada, Mexico, Cuba, Ethiopia and South Africa.

Prometheus Brown is a rapper, DJ, restaurateur and community space builder. He is the emcee-half of the Seattle-based hip-hop duo Blue Scholars as well as a member of the Beatrock Music collective. Additionally, he is a fill-in DJ at KEXP and co-owner of Hood Famous Bakeshop and Hood Famous Cafe + Bar in Seattle.

The Downtown Seattle Association is proud to present Downtown Summer Sounds, our summer concert series that has been bringing free live, local music to downtown Seattle for 45 years. We’re hosting more than 30 outdoor concerts across downtown from July 5-Sept. 10 — check out the full lineup!
