Genre: Blues Joel Astley began as a visual artist, and since forming his first band in 2014, he has performed all around the Pacific Northwest. He has been recognized by the Washington Blues Society with honors including Best Blues Harmonica, Best Male Vocalist and Best Songwriter. He earned his reputation for band leading while performing with northwest bands including Tacoma-based T-town Aces and Seattle-based High Note Group. His blend of originals and covers can be described as danceable swing-blues, edging into country on one side and roots/soul/funk on the other. The Downtown Seattle Association is proud to present Downtown Summer Sounds, our long-running concert series bringing free live local music to downtown Seattle for over 40 years.
