Imagine Greater Downtown

Leading our region in the development of a 20-year transportation and public realm strategy for downtown

In the next two decades, downtown Seattle will add more than 25,000 new residents and at least twice as many jobs. Planning for how all of those people will get to and through downtown is critical. That’s why we’re leading the development of a 20-year transportation and public realm strategy called Imagine Greater Downtown to keep downtown moving and create great, safe and inviting public spaces.

This effort is a partnership of the Downtown Seattle Association, the City of Seattle, King County and Sound Transit. Through Imagine Greater Downtown, DSA continues to advocate for several key long-term downtown priorities:

  • Enhance the public realm in downtown
  • Improve the transit experience
  • Increase people capacity of our transportation alternatives
  • Coordinate investment between both public and private entities
  • Deliver a planning framework with long-term predictability
  • Set the stage for future growth and development in our center city

This is the first transportation planning effort in Seattle’s history that puts the public realm front and center.
