Overview
The mission of the Metropolitan Improvement District (MID) Safety Program is to assist in creating a safe and welcoming environment to all who frequent the downtown Seattle MID. This includes tourists, employees, residents, and organizations that serve the downtown community and the vulnerable street population. The Downtown Supervisor – Safe Team is responsible for the daily supervision of the Metropolitan Improvement District’s downtown ambassadors — Safe Team. Included in these responsibilities are planning, directing, coordination, evaluation, training, and monitoring of the aowntown ambassador — Safe Team staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and coordination of Downtown Ambassadors Team’s daily efforts.
  • Manage and communicate with the Downtown Ambassador Team to ensure compliance with organization policies and standards.
  • Conduct appraisals of staff performance. Assess and counsel employees using coaching, corrective action, and training to facilitate effective performance.
  • Conduct daily Downtown Ambassador team meetings and ensure Downtown Ambassadors are effectively deployed.
  • Review Downtown Ambassador daily logs, accident reports, etc. for accuracy and completeness.
  • Represent the MID and the Public Safety Program at special events and community meetings in a positive and highly professional manner.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with local government service providers, property managers, merchants, and members of the Downtown Seattle Association staff.
  • Advise management of trends and activity within the MID.
  • Maintain staff levels by assisting with recruiting, selecting, and onboarding employees.
  • Assist with in-house training, including new hire training and team training.
  • Other commensurate duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience.
  • Self-motivated, energetic learner and leader with a good sense of humor.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Strong ability to work and interact with the public.
  • Must be able to walk and bike in Seattle’s changing weather for up to ten-hour shifts.
  • Knowledge of Downtown Seattle and its community a plus.
  • Work is conducted 50% indoors and 50% outdoors in an urban environment. Must be able to lift 40 pounds. Must be able to hear and write.

Compensation
The salary for this position starts at $57,000 per year. Downtown Seattle Association provides a comprehensive benefits package including:
